Explora Books to Host Book Signing with Patricia L. Blake at the MIBF 2026
Explora Books will host a book signing with Patricia L. Blake at the 2026 Manila International Book Fair (MIBF), September 9–13 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, Philippines.
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, 4th Sep 2026 - Blake’s three featured works span two very different shelves—a gentle children’s picture book with a companion coloring book and a candid law-enforcement memoir. These three are connected by two recurring threads in Blake’s life: her real-life bond with her horse, Mocha Latte, and her decades of service to the Los Angeles community.

Mocha Angel Warrior Book 1: True Trust Book 1 is an illustrated picture book that follows a young colt from his earliest days under his mother’s watchful care, through separation from his herd, to a stint as a working ranch horse—a job he wasn’t suited for and didn’t enjoy. Everything changes when Mocha meets a girl named Pepper standing quietly at the fence line. Rather than judging him for his failures, Pepper simply loves him, and the two form the “forever-meant-to-be” bond at the heart of the book. With warm, full-color illustrations and simple, rhythmic text, the story introduces young readers to themes of trust, belonging, and the quiet way animals and people can find each other.
Mocha Angel Warrior: True Trust Book 1 Coloring Book serves as a companion volume that lets young readers revisit scenes from Mocha’s world through coloring. Featuring line-art versions of scenes from the original picture book—including Mocha as a foal, his time with the herd, his ranch training, and his first meeting with Pepper at the fence—the coloring book extends the story into a hands-on creative activity for young readers.
Touched by the Hand of God: In the City of Angels SEND ME! is Blake’s memoir of over thirty-three years with the LAPD, from her 1983 academy graduation to her 2016 retirement as a lieutenant. She recounts her work in patrol, gang and narcotics enforcement, specialized units, and community outreach, including leading the Valley Community Cavalry Rough Riders, a volunteer mounted unit she helped establish and rode with on Mocha Latte. Woven through accounts of shootings, rescues, and leadership lessons is a formative moment that shaped Blake’s faith and, she writes, set her on a path toward service. The memoir closes with a tribute to Mocha Latte and original song lyrics written in his memory and in honor of first responders.
Patricia L. Blake joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1983 and became one of the department’s first two female Field Training Officers at Rampart Division. She later served in specialized gang and narcotics enforcement roles before retiring as a lieutenant in 2016. Blake holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology from California State University, Northridge, and a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix. In 2016, she received recognition from the Los Angeles Women Police Officers and Associates for her leadership and mentorship and later continued serving as a reserve officer and Officer-in-Charge of the mounted unit for seven years after retirement.
Attendees to the 2026 Manila International Book Fair are invited to attend the signing event at the Explora Books exhibit booth, 2-56 and 2-57, to meet Patricia L. Blake and obtain signed copies of her books.
